This sculpture is about ENERGY. The proximity of Mr. Dwight’s installation collects the athletic spirit of Iowa State University as well as that of the students and fans. The various bronze components and the original stadium gate serve as the historic backdrop to Jack Trice’s football legacy.

Game Day is to celebrate the impact of Jack Trice as an athlete, as well as a leader of his time for Iowa State. The ‘confetti’, symbolized in the form of football tickets, are composed of quotes made from Mr. Trice’s writing the evening before his 1923 “Big Game”. Each ‘confetti’ ticket has a barcode that scans to Jack Trice Stadium, and all the seats depicted are current seats at Jack Trice Stadium. The team photos of 1923 at the bottom of the image represent the spirit and unity of teamwork.
