Artist Susan Chrysler White has numerous public art installations of colorful, three-dimensional sculpture throughout Iowa. For this specific installation outside of the Hub, a more durable material was needed than the artist’s typical painted plexiglass. Working directly with the artist, University of Northern Iowa’s Public Art Incubator developed three-dimensional maquettes in cardboard to mock-up the angles, color choices, and pattern of the cuts. After the approval of the design, the group had the panels cut from aluminum and colored with durable enamel coating.
