What makes up a personal narrative of one’s life? The places visited, weekly appointments, family dinners, memories bound in photographs? This collage features layering of imagery that accumulates over time to form a personal identity. Calendar entries with reminders to call loved ones, silhouettes of figures in family photographs, X-ray imagery, and historic prints of women in the home and at work, all layer together to create this homage to the artist’s mother. How much memory is held in these photographs of important moments, events, or held within one’s body from past trauma? This collage is an interesting exploration on what remains when the body and the person inhabiting it is no longer present. What would make up the collage of your life so far?
