Ventura Consolidated Historic School District, located at the junction of Main and Park Streets, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. The auditorium and gynmasium was designed by architect Thorwald Thornson, 1940. It is one of the last structures in the State of Iowa that was build in the Art Deco style.
