Bas relief portrait of sons of the president of North Central College, Naperville, Illinois. Joseph Edward “Ed” Rall (background) and David Platt Rall (foreground). Ed Rall would go on to complete groundbreaking research on the thyroid, founded one of the world’s leading thyroid centers at NIH. David Rall was the director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (1971–1990) as well as founding director of the National Toxicology Program.
