Description

From 1960 until 1980, the Iowa State Veterinary College sold 18-inch plaster castings of The Gentle Doctor as a fundraiser for the Christian Petersen Scholarship Fund, with royalties to Charlotte Petersen for every piece purchased. Her husband had created the piece for his veterinary friends in 1959. In 1980, the original molds had deteriorated and The Veterinary College commissioned a new copyrighted resin casting of the piece, which is currently sold by the College with proceeds to the continuing scholarship fund for the Christian and Charlotte Petersen Scholarship Fund.
