In 2010 Bart was a Resident Fellow at the Virginia Center for creative Arts in Amherst, Virginia. Her award-winning book Ghost Maps began as a process of documentation, recording the absence and presence of myriad artists preceding her in Studio VA5. Using the encrusted studio floor as a palimpsest, she marked sections of the floor with tape, scrubbed the spaces between, and took aerial photographs. In its final form, Ghost Maps merged process with installation, memory with mapping, creating a topographic map of the creative world.
